24 Feb A quiet heart
The whoosh of traffic and the buzz of the neighbourhood remind me of the bustle of humanity. The heat of the sun reflecting off the cement driveway burns my bare feet and the small stones and prickles in the brown sparse grass verge make the walk even more uncomfortable.
I pick my way back, trundling the recently emptied bin to its customary resting place and that done, race into the house to ready the space for the regular Friday morning group.
Amidst all this activity I am aware of the mind composing lists of chores still to be done, the simmering emotions seething alongside, and the weariness of a sleep deprived body.
Yet, there is also the awareness that all of this turmoil is being witnessed by something completely invisible, perfectly serene and profoundly present.
It is here that I find sanctuary.
It is here that I find myself.
All those external and internal movements are like the turbulent waters of an ocean breathed upon by a fierce wind, but deeper than this moves a powerful current, and the sea here is tranquil and serene in itself.
It is here in the stillness of a quiet heart, that I am always at peace.

Posted at 19:04h, 25 FebruaryThis is so perfect for my here and now, as in right now in this exact moment. There seems to have been a shift over the past week, a profound shift that only happens when there is nothing left to give. We are taking a leap of faith that is so crazy it just feels so right, and now that some decisions have been made there is peace and serenity 🙂
