Quiet Mind, Quiet Heart
“A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness, inner energies wake up and work miracles without any effort on your part” – Nisargadatta Maharaj –
Our lives have become consumed with doing, achieving, surviving and attaining, always striving towards something ‘out there’. Yet in so doing, isn’t it true that we have forgotten who we really are, and what it is that we actually want in life?
The key to liberation from suffering is to know yourself, your true Self.
As long as we believe ourselves to be anything that can be quantified, identified or labelled in any way, we are lost in the illusion of the conditioned self. Here, we live completely trapped by who we think we are and who others believe us to be.
Within these confines, we experience separation, conflict, isolation and the yearning to belong and to be accepted. This creates a constant striving to improve on the story of ourselves, to become better, more, or other than what we perceive ourselves to be. The mind functions in turmoil and the heart shuts down against the pain.
